Australian native Boyd Martin, of West Grove, PA and Aiken, SC relocated to the United States in 2007 to pursue his dreams of competing in international three-day eventing. In 2009 he officially changed his citizenship with the FEI and is now riding for the United States. As a member of the US Eventing team's "A" training list Boyd is on track for reaching his goal of riding on a team, with the 2010 Alltech/FEI World Equestrian Games in Lexington, Kentucky his main focus.

Prior to moving to the US Boyd was extremely successful in Australia, where he trained out of Heath and Rozzie Ryan's equestrian center. The highlight of his competitive career there was winning the 2003 Adelaide CCI**** riding True Blue Toozac.

He spent his first two years in the United States working as assistant trainer to Olympic Gold Medalist Phillip Dutton before striking out on his own. Boyd currently has several horses competing at the upper levels and always has numerous young horses coming up the ranks. He competes nearly every weekend on as many as 13 horses per event, and coaches a long list of successful riders. His clinics have become increasingly popular around the United States.

Boyd's competitive successes since moving to the United States include placing second and fourth overall at the 2007 Fair Hill CCI*** and winning the 2008 Bromont CCI** in Canada. In 2009 he won the CIC*** at Jersey Fresh and the CCI*** at Fair Hill. Boyd has quickly made his mark on American eventing: in 2008 he was ranked number two on the US Eventing Association Rider of the Year Leaderboard, an impressive feat in only his second year living and competing in the United States. In 2009 he was the USEA preliminary rider of the year.
